1 National Cedar Double Bee Hive. This hive is for rearing 2 new colonies of bees, when the bee keepers find, s brood frames that has queen cells on the frame , they can put one frame with queen cell or cells in one side and one frame with queen cells in the other side, the bee keeper needs to put another frame of nurse bees and brood with honey and pollen stores beside the queen cell frame, each side holds 5 brood frames and feed the young bees with liquid sugar. When the virgin queens come out they will have their own bees to look after them. The virgin queens will fly out to get mated , make sure you do not mark the young queens at this stage as birds can see a marked queen and catch her, only mark the queen later when she is settled in the hive. 1 side of the hive is colour coded with white and the other side is yellow , this help, s the queen to fly back into the right place. With the see through perspex crown boards the bee keeper can see what is going on without disturbing the bees. Each side has 5 brood frames which allows the new bees to expand and can be over wintered to the next spring, the advantage of this double bee hive is both colonies of bees will keep each other warm, and the bee nest usually settles towards the center of the hive yet they are separated by the plywood wall in the center. The hive comes with a 2 entrance lathes, which cuts down the defending bee space for the bees to defend themselves against wasp attack, the hive floor has air holes to give the bees air flow when there is this problem with the wasps in Autumn, only put on the entrance lathe on when it is needed, good air flow is good for the bees. Face the hive entrance, s east and west. 2 See through perspex crown boards. No frames are included. The item “1 National Cedar Double Bee Hive, Assembled” is in sale since Monday, January 13, 2020.
