Artek A331 Beehive Pendant Lamp – White and Brass. Originally designed for the University of Jyväskylä in Finland in 1953, the Beehive is one of Alvar Aaltos most popular lighting designs. Inspired by the beautifully layered structure of a bee’s nest, the sculptural, organic form of the light creates a defining hanging pendant. The elegantly curved tiers are separated by perforated metal rings, allowing for a golden-toned illumination to be created. Light is directed in a masterly way only where needed, creating a soft, pleasant twilight. Suitable for both in the home and public spaces, the Beehive can be employed individually or in a bold cluster; creating a striking effect even when unlit.
