The top bar bee hive will be manufactured from untreated pine for the main body, ply for the lift off roof and steel mesh # 8 for the bottom. Whilst the pine is rarely flat and not always straight It is robustly made to withstand the elements, cascamite glued and screwed. The roof will require covering either with paint / varnish or any waterproof material (preferably not black as this absorbs the heat and may provide discomfort for the bees). The legs are made from treated 2 x 4 pine and secured with bolts and can easily be removed if required. Inside dimensions are approximately 40.5″ x 12.75″ (at top) 5.25″ at bottom and 12″ deep. Included are 10 top bars and 2 follower boards, one with a hole to allow bees to pass through to the feeder. These hives are made to order.
