They have been antiqued by hand to give an aged appearance and they are not lacquered. This means that the brass will age naturally forming a nice radiance. The grub screws are steel which are located in the brass collar which ensures extra longevity. The spindle is threaded either end. This is known as “The Pitts Mortice System”.
