This is a Payal Vienna Portrait Plate dating from around 1900. The plate is very fine quality painting with a hand painted design in gold and raised gold. The plate is 9 1/2 in diameter. The center of the plate is decorated with a depiction of a scantily clothed young girl with flowers in her hair. The colors are fresh and vibrant. The plate is Artist signed. On the interior rim. The back of the plate marked with the beehive mark with both an underglaze blue beehive and a Gold Beehive. The word, “Verella” is also on the back of the plate. The plate is in Excellent antique. Royal Vienna Blue Beehive/Shield Mark. Tea Pot with 4 Demitasse Cups. Each cup is 1.5 ” tall and and 1.5″ in diameter and has a different scene on it, the saucers are 3.25. The tea pot is about 6″ tall and 3.25″ wide and 4.5 from spout to handle. There are no chips or cracks, one saucer has some scuffing and one saucer is a bit darker in color. Some scuffing on gold on cups, very slight. Raised gold accent dots. There are no chips or cracks. Beautiful cabinet set for display. Condition: wear is present. This is an Antique. Made by Royal Vienna Porcelain. The box is marked with beehive mark in blue under glaze. It is quite rare and unusual example of Royal Vienna Porcelain. The Box is 3 7/8″ by 2 3/4″ at the rim and 2 1/2 with the lid. The box is in good antique condition. There is some gold loss. It look like there is an old repair on the rim. Would have a place in any collection. This is a piece of history that everyone will be proud to have. It was founded in 1718 and continued until 1864. The firm was Europe’s second-oldest porcelain factory after Meissen porcelain, and for 25 years the two remained the only European producers. Initially it was a private enterprise, founded by Claude du Paquier, an official of the Viennese Imperial court, but in 1744 it was rescued from financial difficulties when bought by the Empress Maria Theresa, and thereafter remained an asset of the emperors. The wares from the earlier, private period before 1744 are the most sought-after today, if only because production was lower and so the pieces are much more rare. These are often called Du Paquier porcelain from the Du Paquier factory. The other high point, “perhaps the factory’s most glamorous period”, was from 1784 to 1805 when a variety of innovative wares in broadly Neoclassical styles were produced, then with Sèvres porcelain the main influence.
