ANTIQUE SETH THOMAS 8-DAY SPRING CLOCK + KEY Mahogany Wood Beehive Shelf Mantel. Very nice antique 8-Day Spring clock made by Seth Thomas in the United States. Made from a beautiful dark hardwood, likely mahogany, and features a beehive shape with rounded corners. Black roman numerals against a bone-white metal face. Measures approximately 15″ tall x 10 3/4″ wide x 4 deep. Age-appropriate wear, dust and dirt. Some of the paint on the face is chipping. The clock is currently NOT keeping time, it ticks and chimes (really lovely sound) when moved around then stops after a few moments. We’ve decided not to take the back off and leave as-is, but safe to assume that it needs cleaning and servicing. A fantastic project piece, or even just to add to your collection as-is! The end result is a revised camshaft that provides more average torque, higher peak power, and a maximum depth heat treatment. Aximum heat treat depth is achieved by having cam cores made within a few thousandths of final grind size.
