Nest Box Bird House – Round Bee Hive. Size approx: H25cm – Diameter of Box 18cm. Correct size entrance hole for small British Birds. We have designed and especially commissioned one of our carvers in Bali to create these lovely bird boxes. We have had the hole made at an average of 3cm to attract our smaller British birds which do not like a larger entrance hole. They have been strung here in the UK to ensure a strong fixing. Please be aware that as they are made from a section of tree limb you may see small splits radiating from the centre of the wood towards the edge. This is a natural process called’checking’ and is not considered a defect. We suggest treating with a good quality varnish once the nesting season is over ready for the following year. Birds take a while to get used to new items in the garden. You may also have to move the birdhouse around the garden to find a place the birds like. See the RSPB website for advice. Please note we take all pictures close up to fill the frame and thereby show as much detail as possible This is not indicative of size. We give the dimensions of the item within the description of the listing and it is the customers responsibility to check this before purchasing. Part of the appeal of this carving is it’s handmade nature. It is crafted using a natural product using hand tools in the traditional way. As such please accept that there may be minor imperfections in the wood which add to it’s authenticity and ensure you are not purchasing a generic, factory-made product.
