ANTIQUE VICTORIAN POTTERY BEE HIVE LIDDED HONEY CAKE JAM BUTTER DOME BELL DISH. BASE IS APPROX 12 inches ACROSS. W: 21cm (8.3). H: 12.5cm (4.9). D: 21cm (8.3). THE FINIAL / HANDLE HAS BEEN BROKEN OFF AND STUCK BACK ON AND HAS A LARGE CHIP. THERE ARE A FEW CHIPS TO THE EDGE OF THE BASE AND LID. PLEASE IGNORE ANY LIGHT REFLECTION. This dome would have most probably held honey but could have been for jam or butter. Wonderful piece of Victorian Biscuit Ware. Biscuit Ware means (earthenware in this finish) that is fired but not glazed. MARKED ON THE BASE FGW 793. IT’S A GREAT ORIGINAL ITEM THAT WILL ENHANCE ANY GOOD ANTIQUE KITCHENALIA COLLECTION. Here is something you don’t see everyday. An old Beehive solid brass bell. Almost 12 tall and weighs over 11 pounds. Can’t find any makers marks. I acquired this from a Minnesota estate. They paid much more than my asking price. Sounds great when struck. No major damage that I can see. All intact and ready to display. Seth Thomas Sonora #14 5 Bell Chime Clock Beehive Case Runs Not Striking/Chiming

Vintage Seth Thomas Sonora 5 Bell Chime Clock # 14 Beehive Case Runs James Armiger Baltimore MD. Here is an opportunity to own a Seth Thomas Sonora Chime Bell Clock that is in very nice condition. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! Very unique one here. This is a 5 Bell Sonora #14 Chime Clock. The clock dates to the mid 1910s period. We can therefore better control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don’t have the overhead that the higher end houses and galleries pass on to their clients. There is nothing like the sound of a bell versus a rod strike/chime clock. Once you have one, you will have a hard time every finding a rod or gong clock whose sound you like better. Few of these clocks were made. This clock was probably made in the mid 1910’s period. Not sure what model this is yet. You be the judge at to the clock’s age and the model number before acquiring. Nice solid wood mahogany case on this clock. No cracks, repairs or splits to the case. The finish to the case does show some finish wear from time. See nothing on the inside of the case or the outside to show that it was ever refinished at any time. The 8 day brass clock and chime movements appear to be in good condition. The three wind springs feel sound when keyed. The appropriate pendulum bob is with the clock has an embossed image on it. The chimes unit is a number 90B. The time/strike unit is a number 89O. The brass plates of the time and chimes’ units show some loss of finish from oiling and time over the years. Each of the bells, is about 2.75 in diameter, and all sound great when the clock strikes and chimes. The hour strike bell is slightly larger. None of the bells have any cracks or other damage that would impede their sound. The clock was made to chime every 15 minutes and then chimes, and strikes the number of hours on the hour. The chimes unit is to the Westminster chime sound. Not striking, and chiming as expected when should activate, will strike and chime when manually activated. The brass plate is in place to lift the strike hammers when you wish to silence the clock. The nest of bells look good, other than needing a good cleaning and are securely attached to the case. The face of the clock does show some moderate wear to the silver colored finish. Says “Sonora Chime” and “Made by Seth Thomas” in USA on the face. The face appears to be made of tin and has black colored numbers. Beautiful gold colored trim ring around the face. The face and bezel are loose from the case and the left side of the bezel moves down when door opened making wind arbors not lining up with holes. The clock hands match and look appropriate to the clock. The wood door is in place, and the beveled glass is there as well. No cracks or blistering to the glass. The rear door of the clock is still in place as is the latch that holds it in place. The clock comes with the 4 brass feet. There is no representation that the clock is in original condition, or will continue to be in working order. The clock will come with a winding key. The clock stands 14-1/8″ tall, by 10″ across, by 7 wide. The clock face is 5-3/8 across. This was definitely a quality clock made around 100 years ago. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. The pictures provided both complement and supplement the listing description, so please look at them very closely as well. With old items, there is no way one can capture all the little imperfections in words, so the two media are meant to be the full description.
