This is a rare ripple cut mantle clock made by J. It is currently running. Brown Forestville Ripple Cut Beehive Clock. BROWN FORESTVILLE CLOCK MANUFACTORY. RIPPLE CUT BEEHIVE CASE. 30 HOUR MOVEMENT, TIME & STRIKE, RUNNING. THIS is a guaranteed genuine antique “beehive” clock made by J. Brown when he operated as the Forestville Clock Manufactory. The cabinet has probably been refinished, but it was professionally done. As best I can tell, the frosted glass in the lower panel is ORIGINAL. The clear sections are slightly beveled, which I read is a hallmark of originality, but I cannot guarantee it as such. The movement is correctly marked Forestville (see photos), and appears to be original to the case. The dial is original, but has been touched up where flaking and the numerals strengthened. There is only a fragment of the original paper left and it has darkened significantly–again see photos. The pendulum is an original one. I removed the movement and it was not dirty. It was oily–except at the pivots! I oiled those and it is running nicely. Even so however, I sell all electrical and mechanical items AS-IS because things this old can easily get out of adjustment or even damaged in transit. The case is approximately 17 X 10.5 X 4 inches.
