Each hive (again, not a FULL hive but a hive body, meaning a deep box and a medium box) is something from a dream, a spiral, a pattern, an abstract, sometimes black and white, sometimes brightly colored, some geometrical shapes, you just never know with Dreamscape. Each hive comes complete with a Brood Chamber (deep box) and a Medium (honey super) – the design and patterns fit together only in one direction, so you can be sure you never mistakenly replace the honey super and it is in the wrong orientation/direction. The deep should be used by itself UNTIL YOUR COLONY HAS ESTABLISHED ITSELF AND AT LEAST 8 OUT OF 10 FRAMES are full of bees – only then do you add your honey super. If you add your honey super too soon, it can be invaded with pests and there may not be enough bees to defend the hive. Wax moths and small hive beetles are bees’ enemies – so make sure you don’t add your super too soon. But when you do, you’ll see it fits perfectly in place with the design of the deep. BEES ARE NOT INCLUDED! You are looking at a matching DEEP (BROOD BOX OR BROOD CHAMBER) and MEDIUM (also known as a honey super) – 10 frame hive body. The reason they are matching is they are painted and decorated so that the medium and deep are designed as one art piece. They are BRAND NEW, never been used by bees, only pained with two coats of exterior latex NO/LOW VOC (non toxic) paint to provide weatherproof, and then decorated, using the same type of paint, so these boxes will stand up to all kinds of weather. This saves you having to paint them yourself (exterior paint is not cheap) and as they are decorated, all you need to do is worry about getting your bees in there. These are the two boxes only that will house the amazing queen and her beautiful workers (the deep), and then when the time is right and you see the hive is at least 80 percent full, that’s the time to super – and the super will only go on in one direction to match the design. The wood is high quality pine and cut with box joints to ensure stability – the boxes are fully assembled. All you need dto do is put the entire hive set together with bottom board, inner cover and telescoping lid, and add this BROOD BOX, and you’re good to go to put in your bees. Once someone takes ownership of it and perhaps puts bees inside, it could be exposed to all kinds of things (chemical treatments, for example) – so you are guaranteed to receive a pristine, brand new, unused, unlived in hive body (deep and medium).
