A Swarm trap hive/ Nuc Box including. Ready assembled swarm trap hive/Nuc Box. 25 DN4 wax foundation sheets. Roof complete with robust steel cover. This swarm trap hive is compatible with National and WBC frames! They will hold 5 deep brood frames (12×14) with extra space below the frames to give the feeling of space that scout bees require to lead their swarm to your box. Easily hangs using a’French Cleat’. This allows the box to hang securely and vertically so that the bees build out their comb within the frames instead of’cross-combing’. The small weather port, landing stage and entrance slot attracts bees to the box as they seem to like these features. This swarm trap box is perfect for holding bees for long periods of time when waiting for an available beehive that they can be moved to. The swarm trap is also known as a’bait hive’ and is designed and situated to attract bee swarms. Bees can be baited into the trap by placing frames and wax inside. This hive is sent ready assembled. The hive is made from solid pine and plywood with a solid base.

This bait hive is made of Macrocarpa wood and marine plywood AA grade for the bottom and roof. I make them to order. After a swarm moves into the bait hive you can easily transfer the bees to your existing Warre Hive without disturbing them as the top box is removable and fits onto your Warre hive perfectly. You can reuse this bait hive as many times as you wish, if you catch a swarm you just need a new Warre box and its good to go again. It comes semi-assembled: the bottom box is built for you but the top box is un-assembled. It comes with instructions on how to assemble the box and information on how to be successful in catching a swarm. It’s a great way to catch free bees this next season. You can place this bait hive on top of your garage, caravan, roof or hang it on trees, posts, etc. The standard bait hive comes with. Bottom box with entrance (assembled). Top box with 8 top bars (un-assembled). Standard roof lid. Back post for hanging (assembled). You can choose from the options if you want an extra telescopic roof for added protection from rain. The telescopic roof can only be used if you are just placing it on top a structure and not hanging it. If you are going to hang it somewhere you can use the lid that comes with it which can also be weatherproofed and it’s explained in the instructions. The rope is a great idea to help hanging it on trees, making it much easier and safer to bring the bait hive up and down the tree or post.
