Cocktail ring in 14K yellow gold. Set with lavender banded agate on one side and with semi-opaque aventurine on the other, spaced in the middle with a stripe of gold set with sparkly white diamonds at the center – quite unusual and absolutely stunning. Agate and aventurine are beautifully carved to form fluted ribbed navette “beehive” – please refer to our photos. Weight: 8.7 grams. Diamonds: round brilliant cut, approximate total carat weight 0.20 ctw (estimated in the mounting). The face measures approximately 26 mm by 16 mm. “Black Bear Cub after Honey”. This Carving is 30″ high by 11 1/4″ wide. This is an original relief wood carving that I designed and carved in my studio. Everything was completely carved by hand from one piece of wood. All of the coloring and shading was done with burning. No paint or stain was used. I use this method to bring out the beauty of the wildlife without hiding the beauty of the wood. PROCESS: The medium used is kiln dried Pine. I drew my original design out on the wood, and cut and roughed it out with saws and grinders , and carved the details with grinders. I then burned the coloring on this sculpture with a torch, and finished up with grinders and sanders. I then prepared the wood with a coat of a penetrating oil-base finish, and then hand brushed on a coat of a top quality U. Resistant Spar Urethane with a “Satin” sheen. The back is flat for wall mounting. On the back I hand carved a flush mount hanger for a nail, screw, etc. To hang it on a wall, and I also hand engraved my signature and the year.
