ANTIQUE VICTORIAN POTTERY BEE HIVE LIDDED HONEY CAKE JAM BUTTER DOME BELL DISH. BASE IS APPROX 12 inches ACROSS. W: 21cm (8.3). H: 12.5cm (4.9). D: 21cm (8.3). THE FINIAL / HANDLE HAS BEEN BROKEN OFF AND STUCK BACK ON AND HAS A LARGE CHIP. THERE ARE A FEW CHIPS TO THE EDGE OF THE BASE AND LID. PLEASE IGNORE ANY LIGHT REFLECTION. This dome would have most probably held honey but could have been for jam or butter. Wonderful piece of Victorian Biscuit Ware. Biscuit Ware means (earthenware in this finish) that is fired but not glazed. MARKED ON THE BASE FGW 793. IT’S A GREAT ORIGINAL ITEM THAT WILL ENHANCE ANY GOOD ANTIQUE KITCHENALIA COLLECTION. These are well known, they are a Victorian reproduction in the Minton style. This one is the most popular Beehive model. What sets it apart from a lot off the rest that are available for sale is the fact that it is completely perfect and undamaged. Kind of the Holy Grail for collectors of Majolica. No chips, no cracks, no nibbles. Crazing to glaze on the plate but they all have that. 19 cm high to the top of the handle. Dish 21 cm diameter. Whole item weighs 1175 grammes. Richly decorated and rare antique Wedgwood cobalt blue jasperware Mustard (Beehive) Dish with attached under-plate with white “Grapevine” ornament, cover, and white eight Wedgwood classical bas-reliefs. It is in excellent used condition without two tiny chips at the dishes white rim pic. 6, which are nearly invisible. Other than that we could not find any other defects and/or repairs – only age appropriate ware (please see pics). Dish is clean inside is is likely never been used other as a display item.
