This listing is for an unpainted hive. I will add some better pictures of the unpainted hive, but the two I have give you an idea. Also the pictures of the painted ones show what you can do to them. When I bought my first hive and I was putting it together I was disappointed in what I had bought. So once I had decided I wanted more hives I thought I would make my own. My hives are over engineered wherever possible. Everything is glued and screwed/holes filled before painting. I like to pay attention to detail and build them just like I would if they where for my bees. All the bee spaces are correct (bottom bee space). Stand tanalised timber with oak legs. Mesh floor with underfloor entrance. Ply/pine Brood box with metal frame runners, no frames. 2 supers, ply/pine no frames. Multi purpose crown board, built to fit a rapid feeder without the need for an eke, 12mm ply floor (not flimsy like mass produced, will easily take a full feeder or block of fondant and not sag and close the bee space underneath) and pine sides. Shallow galvanised roof made with timber sides and it has 25mm insulation built into it. Orders for 2021 nucs being taken. Any questions feel free to ask. A Beautiful Full National Bee Hive. I do this because having a lot of fully built hives takes up too much in my workshop. Happy New Year to you all. We love our garden as well as our bees and believe a bee hive should be part of the garden furniture and nice to look at. Most hive are just wooden boxes and do nothing for the look of your garden. So I built my hives so that when friends and family visit it adds to the experience if I show them my bees in a special hive. I have been keeping bees for years and I have always built my own bee hives and as Uncle Albert from Only Fools and Horses might say During the Lockdown I built several more to keep me busy during lockdown. My hives proved quite popular and after I stopped making them I still had enquires asking when I would make them again. Well, now with another lockdown pending here I go again. Beautiful and practical the National Beehive, carefully and solidly made checked construction. Practically tested in different atmospheric conditions by others beekeepers. Standard frames match with it. From the outside it’s covered with spruce wainscot. Inside there is air dilatation and 2-centimeter styrofoam insulation, thanks to which bees can maintain their own microclimate. Within the National Beehive is finished by pine or spruce boards. Using a 3.2 cm wide Hoffman frame, 11 frames are insert. In the pack you get. 2x super boxes for frames heigh 14cm. Brood box for frames height 21,5 cm. In around the roof is cut ventilation. The roof is covered aluminium offset plate. Inside is OSB, 2 cm styrofoam and vapor permeable membrane. The bottom is 9 cm high and consists of cut-out frames with a thick aluminum mesh and waterproof plywood. The comfortable design of the bottom allows for quick and trouble-free cleaning of the hive and control of varroosis after treatment. In the summer, the mesh on the bottom allows good ventilation.
