ANTIQUE VICTORIAN POTTERY BEE HIVE LIDDED HONEY CAKE JAM BUTTER DOME BELL DISH. BASE IS APPROX 12 inches ACROSS. W: 21cm (8.3). H: 12.5cm (4.9). D: 21cm (8.3). THE FINIAL / HANDLE HAS BEEN BROKEN OFF AND STUCK BACK ON AND HAS A LARGE CHIP. THERE ARE A FEW CHIPS TO THE EDGE OF THE BASE AND LID. PLEASE IGNORE ANY LIGHT REFLECTION. This dome would have most probably held honey but could have been for jam or butter. Wonderful piece of Victorian Biscuit Ware. Biscuit Ware means (earthenware in this finish) that is fired but not glazed. MARKED ON THE BASE FGW 793. IT’S A GREAT ORIGINAL ITEM THAT WILL ENHANCE ANY GOOD ANTIQUE KITCHENALIA COLLECTION. This is an Antique Royal Vienna Cabinet Plate depicting a Greek Mythology Scene showing the adventures of Ulysses tilted “Odysseus and Kirke”. This Plate is in Excellent Condition with no cracks, chips or crazing. The Plate is 10 3/4 in diameter and weighs 1 LB 12 OZ. The whole image, with the ears of corn and a tree on a field, we could not find documented. YVER can be a name, also written as IJVER, an Amsterdam family name. The last 2 pictures here (not included with the sale), show old prints with a bee-hive and Yver. The one with the two cartouches has the name Jacobus de Roy. See Stadsarchief Amsterdam with search: Yver. But no connection found with our matrix’ image. Other ways of writing the name are: Jacobus Johannes / Johannes Jacobs de Roy / Jacome / Jan de Roi / de Roij / Le Roy / de Roeij.
