1 x Brood box. 1 x Queen Excluder. 1 x Mesh Floor. 1 x Crown Board. This is the first Smith beehive I have for sale, see my other listing. Just a note about Smith hives. The design is similar to a Langstroth, but with a capacity the same as a standard National hive. The hive boxes are lighter than the National equivalent and more popular in the north of England and Scotland where hives are often moved to the heather and their relatively light weight is an advantage. They will take National frames if the top bar is reduced slightly in length. So you can still use National frames, and reduce the length of the top bars with a saw/ Jig-saw. Smith boxes are rectangular and for storage you can fit 2 empty supers + 2 crown boards + 2 queen excluders end on, inside two empty brood boxes stacked on top of one another. You can’t do that with National boxes, and it does save storage space.
