A scarce and extra special vintage find. Vintage 1960s chapeau from Haute Couture designer Yves Saint Laurent of Paris. A tall tall TALL tower of a hat! Made of study yet supple black felt, in an avant garde sculptural shape that reminds us of a spiral staircase. From the top cascades a l;arge thick black silk rope and tassel. Reminiscent of YSL’s early beehive hats he designed in 1949 and 1950 while working for Christian Dior. I can see this worn on a high fashion street, with a cape and boots, or for an evening event like the opera, with a black dress or evening gown. Silk label is Yves Saint Laurent, Paris, New York.
