AN ANTIQUE, SOLID OAK, ORGAN, OR PIANO, STOOL WITH A ROUND, SWIVEL, ADJUSTABLE SEAT AND BRASS WASH OVER METAL CLAW AND GLASS BALL FEET. THE SEAT SWIVELS AND ADJUSTS UP OR DOWN—FROM 19 INCHES LOWEST TO APPROXIMATELY 22 INCHES HIGHEST. IT IS CIRCA 1890 TO EARLY 1900’s. THIS BEAUTIFUL STOOL HAS AN ORNATE, BEE HIVE TURNED CENTER POST, WHICH HOLDS THE SWIVEL SEAT AND MECHANISM. THE POST HAS FOUR BEE HIVE TURNED CONNECTING STRETCHERS. THE LEGS START BENEATH THE SEAT WITH BEE HIVE TURNINGS; TAPER DOWNWARD; AND END IN BRASS WASHED, METAL, TALON/CLAW FEET AND GLASS BALLS. PLEASE SEE PICTURE GALLERY TO VIEW THE VERY STURDY CONSTRUCTION AND CONDITION. THE ROUND SWIVEL SEAT OF THIS STOOL MEASURES 14 INCHES DIAMETER AND 1 3/4 INCHES THICK. This B&B bat appears to date to the 1915 to 1925 time period but that is an estimate based on it’s contours and appearance. It has the long slightly tapered hitting surface typical of Ty Cobb and other models from the period of 1900 to 1920. 35 long, not cracked, no checking and a pretty strong LEAGUE REGULATION decal. Very heavy at just a tad under 40 ounces in weight! It has the Beehive center label burned-in and nice color and patina. R is carved into the knob and RS or R8 is stamped into the end of the barrel. The photos represent the original decal, so view them carefully and reach your own conclusions about the condition, as we do not try to estimate decal percentages.
